3 Tips for Choosing Where to Go For Vacation

Are you wondering where to go for vacation? There are so many places to choose from that making the decision can be overwhelming. Warm vacation spots are always a popular choice. Then again so are mountain getaways. Of course there are other considerations that need to be taken into account. Will your kids be coming with you? How old are they? What is the goal of your vacation?

These can all be tough decisions to navigate your way through. Fortunately for you, the team at Vacation Strategy is here to help you sort through the choices and narrow it down to a few of the best places for vacation no matter what your circumstances are. You can have an incredible vacation and we’re here to help make your dreams a reality. Keep reading to learn more!

Our Suggestions for How to Pick the Best Place for Vacation

We know that deciding where to go is a tough decision, but we put together a few questions to help you start the decision making process off on the right foot. This list isn’t exhaustive by any means, but focusing in on these three questions specifically can really help you to narrow your search down and make the choice that works best for you.

What Do You Want To Get Out Of Your Vacation?

For some people, vacation means rest and relaxation with an endless supply of cool drinks, a stack of novels to work through while they’re relaxing on the beach, and plenty of sun, sand, and surf. Others, however, are going to prefer a place that has plenty of sightseeing opportunities, tall buildings, and locations to visit. Still others want somewhere that the kids will enjoy and they’ll make that their first and most important priority.

You see, the best way to ensure that you have an incredible vacation is deciding what you want to get out of it. This can sometimes become an issue, for example, when two spouses disagree on what they want their vacation to look like, but generally speaking, two visions can often come together through compromise and the end result will still be a fun time for everyone.

Simply deciding early on in the decision making stage what it is that you’d like your vacation to be like is one of the most important things you’ll do. Spend a bit of time brainstorming during this stage and you’re likely to end up going on a vacation that is filled with exactly the types of things you want to do.

Is There Anywhere You’ve Always Wanted to Visit?

This is another important question to consider. While some have always dreamed of taking Walt Disney vacations and spending time gallivanting through Epcot and riding the Tower of Terror, others will want to explore Nashville and see all of the historic sights the city has to offer. Perhaps you’ve always dreamed of taking a trip to a particular part of the country and you’ve never been yet. This is a key question to ask yourself when it comes to helping you make your decision.

One other fun tactic to take if you’re traveling with your family is to ask your kids where they’d like to go. Depending on their ages, you could either get a suggestion that’s not plausible or something that might surprise you. Maybe your kids have dreamed of visiting the ocean and this conversation is the catalyst for finding the perfect vacation spot. Maybe they would like to visit a city they’ve learned about in history class. This is your chance to make their dreams a reality and it can lead you to consider visiting places that you yourself may not have even thought about.

What Is Your Budget?

For many people, taking a vacation while trying to save some money is the main goal. A few things to consider are whether you’d rather spend a good chunk of your vacation budget on a fancy hotel and then have little money left to accomplish your other goals or whether you might prefer to stay somewhere a little less expensive and use your money to treat yourself to food from great restaurants or on taking tours and seeing shows.

At Vacation Strategy, we can help to make this particular question a little bit easier. We offer some of the best travel packages on the web and our prices are even frequently 40% to 70% cheaper than they are on other popular travel websites. How can we do that, you ask? To put it simply, we offer destinations that people love going to at the best prices on the internet. You see, we started our business with the realization that it’s much easier financially for a family to rent from a timeshare owner than it is to actually own a timeshare. We can connect you with all of the best vacation locations without headaches and chaos, ensuring that you don’t have to endure any hassles in order to have a great vacation.

It’s the best of both worlds! You save money on the resort you stay at, ensuring that you have a base of operations that you actually enjoy spending time at. You also have money leftover to eat at a fancy restaurant or go to a theme park or try something new. We’ve made it our mission to make your lives just a little bit easier while also ensuring that you have the time of your life while you get away from your everyday life and let loose a bit.

No matter what you decide is the best place for vacation for you and your family, we want to make your dreams a reality. Have a question? We’d love to help you make sure that you have a wonderful time on your trip no matter where it is that you’re going. More of What Makes Wyndham at Bonnet Creek Resort So Great?

In part one of our blog on what makes Orlando one of the best places for vacation in the United States, we highlighted a few things that stand out to us. From a stay at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort and all of the amenities contained on site to the thrill of visiting Epcot to the magic of Disney World to the...well...also magic of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, we’ve already seen that there is plenty to do on your vacation.

But what if theme parks aren't quite up your alley? Perhaps you’re not a fan of large crowds or maybe you’ve already been to Disney World and you’re looking for something a little bit different. Fortunately there’s still plenty of ways to relax right at the resort, but in part two of today’s blog, we’ll take a look at a few things you can do that are a little bit more low key, ensuring that no matter how you like to relax on your vacation you’ll have all of your bases covered. Keep reading to learn more!

What Else Can You Do in Orlando?

Museums

One thing that doesn’t spring immediately to mind when you think about a vacation in Orlando is going to museums. That’s something we think should change, however, because there are some truly great spots to be found if you’re willing to do a bit of searching. Luckily for you, we’re here to help. Don’t consider this list exhaustive, but instead view it as a small sample of what’s out there if you’re willing to do a bit of looking.

If you’re in the market for a truly one of a kind experience on your vacation, the Skeletons: Museum of Osteology ought to be right up your alley. We know what you’re thinking--a skeleton museum sounds a bit weird. Okay, we’ll grant you that one, but believe us when we say that this is an absolutely fascinating look at how animals are different. And if you really think about it, aren’t fossils skeletons as well? You wouldn’t hesitate to take a look at the skeleton of a brontosaurus, so why not take a look at over five hundred different skeletons at this wonderfully charming museum?

With Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum and Ripley’s Believe it or Not also available to visit in Orlando, you can get your fair share or odd and interesting information. Or, of course, you could visit the Orlando Museum of Art of the Orange County Regional History Center if you prefer something a bit more traditional.

Food

There’s one thing that every great vacation has in common--an abundance of awesome food. Luckily for you, whether you’re on a vacation with your significant other or you have the whole family in tow, there’s plenty of great food to try in Orlando.

Everybody loves pizza and the pies you’ll eat at Antonella’s Pizzeria won’t disappoint. Try the Buffalo Chicken pizza if you’re in the mood for something a little different or go for a classic like the Spinach and Tomato pizza. No matter what you get, we’re sure you’ll leave smiling and satisfied. Highlights of the menu include the Antonella’s Calzone (which contains mozzarella, ricotta, pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, and red peppers), the Phillaboli Stromboli (containing mozzarella cheese, sliced steak, mushrooms, onions, and red peppers, or the Fra Diavolo which includes your choice of spaghetti, ziti, or fettucine and comes nice and spicy.

Another great place to try is the Provisions and Buzz Steak Company. Located on New Broad Street in Orlando, this restaurant is serving up a fun menu that’s sure to have something for everyone. Whether you prefer their Crab Cake & Fried Green Tomatoes, Lobster Bites, or their scratch made Creamy Tomato Basil Soup, you’re in for a treat. Highlights of the menu include their selection of hand cut steaks and chops as well as the Smoked Country Meatloaf.

Enjoy the Water

Is there a better place to get lost in a great book than on the beach? Whether you’re starting a new series or reading another book by your favorite author, there’s just something special about relaxing on a beach, listening to the waves and the laughter, and enjoying a book.

But perhaps you’d enjoy something a bit more exciting? Not to worry, because there’s plenty of opportunities for that in Orlando! Whether you’d prefer to have a deep sea fishing adventure or charter a fishing boat and do a bit of relaxing with your buddies. Either way, you’re sure to have the time of your life!

Paddleboarding is also growing in popularity and it’s a great activity to take part in whether you’re hoping to get some exercise or just have some fun with your friends. A number of companies offer paddleboard rentals and some even teach classes detailing all of the techniques you’ll need in order to be a pro in no time at all.

For an experience that’s wholly unique, why not try a bioluminescence kayaking journey? According to Adventures in Florida, “each bioluminescent dinoflagellate flashes only a fraction of a second when disturbed by water movement, but its high concentrations in the warm Indian River water create beautiful bluish-white trails of light caused by swimming fish and paddling kayakers,” ensuring that you have an experience that will stick with you for years to come. It’s a beautiful way to start or end the perfect vacation, don’t you think?

Book a Trip Today

Now that you’ve read all about why we believe that Orlando is one of the best places for vacation, why not book a trip so you can get out there and explore yourself? What Makes Wyndham at Bonnet Creek Resort So Great?

What Makes Wyndham at Bonnet Creek Resort So Great?

One of our most loved vacation destinations at Vacation Strategy is without a doubt the Wyndham at Bonnet Creek Resort in Florida. Of course taking a trip to Orlando is popular with everyone from couples looking for a getaway where they can spend time on the beach to families who love it for its proximity to Walt Disney World. And what’s not to love about Florida? The weather seems to always be pleasant and there’s certainly no shortage of things to do.

As we mentioned above, Wyndham at Bonnet Creek is a popular place to stay for a reason. Want to pretty much guarantee that you’ll have an incredible vacation and make some great memories that will last for a lifetime? This is the place to go.

But what makes it so great, you ask? Good question, and luckily for you, the answer comes in the form of today’s blog. Keep reading to learn more!

Okay, So What Makes It One of the Best Places for Vacation?

The Resort

We could write an entire post about how much there is to do without ever leaving the resort, but suffice it to say that there’s no shortage of things to do. Take your pick between five different outdoor swimming pools, nine outdoor hot tubs, thirteen cabanas (yes, you read that right--thirteen!), and two lazy rivers ought to satisfy the needs of just about everyone who wants to spend some time relaxing in the water. Wyndham at Bonnet Creek makes it incredibly easy.

Prefer something a little more active? There’s a playground for the kids, two children’s water features, two different exercise equipment areas, three game rooms, miniature golf, and a beach volleyball court. Like we said, you could entertain yourself for days without ever leaving the resort. There are, however, plenty of other great things for you to do. Speaking of which…

Walt Disney World

If your kids are anything like ours, there’s one answer to the question of where they’d like to go on vacation--Disney World. And why not? Whether it’s because they’re fans of Moana, Frozen, Cars, Toy Story, or The Incredibles, chances are that they want to go see their favorite characters in person and ride the rides!

Disney’s live actions shows are also not to be missed, allowing your kids to see shows like Festival of the Lion King which they’re sure to love. After all, what’s not to love about Timon and Pumba and Simba and seeing all of their antics brought to life? It’s a show that’s likely to please kids and adults alike due to its high production values and stunning visuals.

And speaking of adults enjoying themselves, that’s not to say that adults can’t have a blast while they’re at Walt Disney World as well. Perhaps you visited as a child and have fond memories; maybe you’ve never been before and you want to experience the magic. Space Mountain will thrill you and the famous (or perhaps infamous) Tower of Terror is sure to get your adrenaline going as you plummet thirteen stories down. It’s a rush that you’re not likely to get anywhere else!

Epcot

Epcot is one place we can’t recommend highly enough. Although it is often overshadowed by the magic of Walt Disney World, there’s plenty of magic at Epcot and it’s truly something special to behold. As an adult, you will appreciate the wide variety of incredible foods and beverages and the wonderful combination of cultures.

After all, where else can you get a flavor for Japan, Mexico, Italy, France, and Germany in the same place? It really doesn’t get much better than that! Plus with Club Cool, you can try beverages from all around the world.

You’ve probably never wondered what soda they like in Peru (spoiler alert--it’s a bubblegum flavored beverage called Inca Kola) or what Greece’s drink of choice is (it’s a delightful pineapple flavored soda), but trust us when we say that it’s an eye opening look at what’s popular elsewhere in the world. Our recommendation is to be sure that you try the Fanta Melon Frosty from Thailand or the Sparletta which is a raspberry cream soda and hails from Zimbabwe. Oh, and best of all? These drinks are free to try!

You could also treat your kids to something unique and special in the form of a henna tattoo at the Morocco Pavilion or head to Innoventions East and and enjoy designing your own roller coaster at the Sum of All Thrills. There are plenty of interesting and unique experiences to be had at Epcot that simply cannot be had elsewhere, making it a must visit location while you’re on your vacation. Trust us when we say that it will be a highlight of your trip and a place that you’ll long to return again in the future.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Located inside of Universal's Islands of Adventure, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is every kid’s (and, let’s be honest, adult’s) dream come true. Who wouldn’t want to slide into Diagon Alley, look through the wands at Ollivanders, or hop on the Hogwarts Express and grab a bite to eat (and perhaps a butter beer or two) at the Leaky Cauldron?

Or if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, you can head right on into Gringotts and then work to get out in the “Escape from Gringotts” ride. As a matter of fact, according to a recent review on Trip Advisor, people who are “inside the compartments can enjoy the appearance of travelling to Hogwarts through the window, or listen to Harry, Hermoine, and Ron converse or foil the Dementors. The dragon atop Gringotts, spitting fire every 10 minutes is a particular hit, better at night than during the day because of the contrast.”

Whether you’re a casual fan or someone who owns all of the books and has seen the movies countless times, we’re sure you’ll have a blast at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, reliving your favorite moments and seeing things you’ve only pictured in your mind’s eye.

Stay Tuned for Part Two

We think that you’re already convinced that a trip to Wyndham at Bonnet Creek is likely to make for one of the best places for vacation, but if you need some more convincing, be sure to stay tuned for part two where we’ll detail a few more of our favorite things to do in Orlando.

Or, of course, if you’re ready to book an incredible vacation now and have some questions, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 888-832-4223 and we’d be happy to help!

Wondering Where to Go for Vacation? We Can Help.

Wondering Where to Go for Vacation? We Can Help.

Finding the best places to go for vacation is such a difficult thing to do. Do you want to head out for a mountain getaway? Would you prefer to do something a bit more family-oriented like a Walt Disney vacation while your kids are still young enough to enjoy it? Or would you rather take a trip to Nashville to take in all of the classic sights and enjoy some country music?

There are as many incredible vacations out there as there are types of people. Luckily for you, the team at Vacation Strategy knows a thing or two about vacations. That’s why in today’s blog, we’ll take a look at the steps you can take to figure out where to go and then provide you with a few suggestions that ought to suit just about everyone. Keep reading to learn more!

How to Choose Where to Go for Vacation

The first step in having a great vacation is, of course, choosing where you’d like to go. Unfortunately, for many people this is also the most difficult step. As we mentioned above, different places hold different types of allure. Is the beach calling out to you to spend some time in the surf? Should you wait until winter and pack your warm clothes for a skiing trip in the mountains?

We can help you choose. Here’s one question to ask yourself--what sounds best now? Sure, it can seem like the easiest question in the world, but if a fishing trip in Maine sounds like the thing you’re interested in the most right now, maybe that’s the way to go. There will be plenty of other vacations to take, so consider your options and ask yourself if there’s a particular thing that might suit your family best at the current time.

Of course it might also help you to plan ahead. Sit down with your family and make a list of the places you’d all like to go. When time and finances allow, you can work your way through the list, ensuring that everyone gets to go where they want to go at some point or another.

Consider Who’s Going

If it’s just a romantic getaway you’re after, you may find that you can plan less and choose a place somewhat impulsively. It is, as one might expect, quite a bit easier to plan a vacation when you only have to take two people’s opinions into account.

On the other hand, if your entire extended family is going, you may want to plan quite a bit ahead to ensure that everyone has plane tickets, places to stay, and things to do. Just thinking about who is going can help to make the difference between choosing a snowshoeing adventure in the wilderness and a trip to the beach.

So Where Would We Go?

As you can probably imagine, we hear quite a bit about our customers’ experiences with our vacation packages. We’ve also been on our fair share of vacations. So what would we recommend for a vacation? We have a few picks for you that we think would work great whether you’re with the whole family or headed away for a few days on your own. Here are a few of our personal choices for best places for vacation:

Wyndham Sea Gardens

A trip to Wyndham Sea Gardens is a wonderful choice for pretty much anyone. It puts you in close proximity to the always beautiful Pompano Beach and some incredible views of the water. Or if you’d prefer to take it easy at the resort, the garden ambience is absolutely the way to go. There’s no shortage of things to do in Sea Gardens, making it a great choice for those who want to relax and those who want to explore.

Wyndham Branson at the Meadows

If you’ve been researching the best places to go for vacation for any amount of time, chances are that you’ve seen a trip to Branson, MO on the list. The Wyndham Branson at the Meadows makes for the perfect base of operations should you choose to head to Branson. Often considered the ultimate in family vacation destinations, you’re just as likely to find that Branson is incredibly charming even if you’re heading there on your own. Take in a show, adventure through the area, and enjoy yourself, because Branson is never boring!

Wyndham Grand Desert Resort

Any list of great vacation spots would be empty without mention of Las Vegas. The Wyndham Grand Desert Resort is just a mile away from the Strip, putting it well within walking distance and making it a great command center as you plan out all of the fun you’ll have on vacation. Outdoor swimming pools, cabanas, and hot tubs make staying on site a blast and the sheer variety of things for people of all ages in Vegas means doing a bit of exploring is sure to be just as much fun as well!
